What Mom?

Whenever Kali plays with the Potato Head she always puts the glasses on her face. It cracks me up. She will just sit there the whole time she is playing with it with the glasses (always held on by her little cheeks) on. I would think it would be hard to see what she was doing, but apparently not.

Some Changes

So I have been doing some changes lately to the girls' room. One major one that Bristol was so happy about was that we bought her a new mattress. She was sleeping in her toddler bed before and was outgrowing it. So I found a sale last Monday for 60% of mattresses and packed the girls in the car and went shopping. We only got the mattress because eventually we are going to get bunk beds for them and you don't need a box spring for bunk beds. So for now she is sleeping close to the floor. We also painted her name pink to match the new curtains I made.

Here are the new curtains. It is kind of hard to see the pattern, but I think they are pretty cute. I gave Bristol two options of fabric to pick out and she picked this one.

This is a painting I did the other night for their room. It will be one of three that will be in a line. I took one of designs from the fabric of the curtains and blew it up in size to paint. I will show you more pictures when I finish the other two. I was hoping for a bigger size canvas, but they only sell 12"x12" as the biggest square size. I probably could have shopped else where but had a coupon and didn't want to spend too much. So when I have them all done you will have to tell me if they look like little postage stamps on a wall. I also figure when we get the bunk bed I will have to rearrange the pictures and there will be less wall space.

You can click here to see their room before.

Butterfly Festival

So last week there was a butterfly festival at one of the gorgeous parks here by our house. Lora you would love the park. So we thought we would go and check it out. They have a greenhouse for all sorts of butterflies. We waited in line and took our turn to walk through. However, supposedly in two weeks all the monarchs will have just hatched and there will be tons in there. So we are planning a trip back then. We saw a lot of caterpillars so I am thinking that must be the case. The girls loved the butterflies and it was all free, so you can't really beat that. We did wait in line for about an hour for Bristol to get her arm airbrushed with a butterfly. It was pretty ridiculous but she was happy about it.

Fun in the Rain

So this was a little over a week ago. Nate was on his way home from work and they had a blast getting soaking wet running in the rain. They love just running up and down our driveway even when it is not raining. I am not sure why it is such a great activity, but whatever keeps them happy.

Happy Birthday Nate!

Yesterday was Nate's birthday. He unfortunately had to work long hours and had some extra seminar thing in the evening. However, we managed to have him open his presents, sing to him, and eat cake. Well what more can you ask for.

Bristol loves to bake, so she of course was asking me all day long when we were going to make Nate's cake. Finally, when Kali was down for a nap we made the cake. However, with baking, Bristol is just like her father in that she loves eating the batter, dough or whatever it might be.So you can barely see in the background the baking pans with batter in them. So right after these pictures were taken Nate called me and I had to talk to him in the other room because my phone was charging. Well as I jokingly told him I should better go because Bristol was probably drinking the batter from the pan, I go into the kitchen and she had a spoon in the pans and was spooning the batter into her mouth. Do I know my kid or what.

Singing Happy Birthday. Instead of thirty one candles we opted for the three and one.

What do you get?

So what do you get when there is a mom downstairs cleaning the bathrooms while her two children play upstairs? Let's not forget to remind you that the youngest still wears diapers and has a tendency to take her clothes off and her diaper to try to use the toilet?

Do you know the answer?

Yep I am sure you guessed correct. A daughter who appears in the bathroom downstairs saying, "Momma yuck" and points to her leg. I see she has no pants on and my first conclusion has to be, she pooped. I quickly ask her, "Kali did you try to go poo poo on the toilet? Where did you take your diaper off". I proceed to clean up her legs and bum of the traces remaining and start heading up stair praying that it was contained to the bathroom and there was no painting of the poo. I also hoping that none had gotten on our brand new carpet. I spot the diaper on the floor two feet from the bathroom door. I open it and was surprised to not find a single thing in it. Oh but don't worry as a trail to the toilet are little poops. Bristol is right beside me saying, "Oh Kali you can't take your diaper off if you are going to go on the floor", quickly followed by "Oh mom there is the big log". Disgusting I know I apologize if this offends or just repulses some of you, but others out there I know you can relate. Luckily most of it was in the bathroom. I did have to only do one little spot remover. Phew now hopefully we can make it by until she is potty trained with minimal damage to the carpet.

The last few weeks

Fourth of July
So I didn't think I had any pictures from the fourth of July. However, they don't really have much to do with the holiday. We actually did stuff that day too even though Nate worked for half the day. The girls and I went to a pancake breakfast with some friends, a parade and festival in the morning. Nate met up with us at the festival and then we headed home for naps. That evening we went to a party and watched the fireworks. Both of the kids fell asleep during the fireworks show. This picture is while we were barbecueing at home. Kali made her apron, well of course she didn't write her name but she did all the rest by herself. We made Nate and apron for barbecueing for father's day and the girls each made one of their own too.

Bristol and her apron.
I am not sure where her pants went. I am not sure if you want to trust this chef.
Helping daddy barbecue. It was raining all afternoon and evening on the fourth of July. It was so crazy because that is something I am definitely not used to. I have to say I prefer the sunny weather of California. It just seemed too weird to be almost stuck inside on the Fourth of July.

Youngs Dairy
We headed out to a dairy farm the other week with a playgroup. The kids loved petting the animals and feeding them food. The best part was that they have a restaurant and ice cream store and have great ice cream from the milk they get from the cows.

Kali loved feeding them too.
Feeding the baby goats.
Kali loved pretending to drive these tractors.

Bristol trying to convince Kali that it would be ok for them to share the steering wheel and to smile for the camera. Kali was not having it.
I came out of my room the other week and this is what was happening. Bristol had pushed the chair up and had washed her painting bowl and brush and Kali was up there helping her wash dishes.

What can I say I guess they are learning at an early age how to do dishes.

This has become my new problem. Kali can remove most pants, especially pj bottoms, and immediately will take her diaper off. She then heads to the bathroom and tries to go. However, she has yet to produced anything on the toilet. I don't want to discourage her, but after putting her diaper on about ten times in twenty minutes it gets a little old. I also love this picture because of her major tan line. Can you tell we have been swimming a lot lately.

So Kali asks to watch my pilates video every few days. I think, "really are you serious". So moments before the picture was taken Kali was laying down doing pilates too. Pretty funny if you ask me. Bristol knows all the moves it is so funny.
