So I have never been a runner. I especially have not been able to run since 2002 when I broke my knee cap and had to have major surgery to nail it back together. I had tried running after that and came to the conclusion that it was just not possible for me. So I have just walked to get exercise.
So Nate and I are trying to commit ourselves to some sort of exercise routine. We would trade off in the mornings, when he has been out of school, of going out and running (Nate) and walking (Me). Well since moving our routine has suffered a bit. So I have recommitted myself to start it up again. So I went out walking almost a week ago and just wasn't feeling like I was getting the same workout like I had in Vallejo. (My theory is that Vallejo is super hilly and it is relatively flat in our neighborhood) Well so I decided to start to run. It was crazy! My joints felt fine and I didn't have any pain afterward either. So I have now been running four times in the last six days. Granted I am seriously out of shape so I can't run for too long with out getting winded, but I am working on it. I am running about a mile and half now (not straight) and walking about a mile. I will keep you posted on my progress. However, I have to wait for Nate to get home to go out so the days I can't run I am going to be doing pilates. Which by the way is awesome. However, I haven't done it for a month now and am not looking forward to getting my butt kicked again at first.
Random post I know, but I thought if I post about it then maybe I will have more of a commitment to keeping it up.

You are a better woman than I am. I pretty whimpy when it comes to exercise but I have been doing a great program for me. I have been doing the Walk Away the Pounds- l mile walk. It is nice. Good luck with yours.
I didn't read this post until after I talked to you today. I have a goal to run too. I plan on doing a 5K sometime soon.
I am SO glad your knee is cooperating.
Way to go! Running sucks, but you feel so much better afterwords. Before I got pregnant I was running 12 miles a week, but now I just walk. I don't feel like walking gives near the workout and I feel all squishy.
Your a better woman that I am too. Maybe I should blog about my running adventures and that may give me more motivation to get out there and do it everyday.
Good job Nicole keep up the good work!!!!
Tom and I are going to be in Columbus, Ohio this weekend (July 17-18). We will be driving home on Saturday evening, and since we were driving though Dayton, we were wondering if we might be able to stop and see you? We will probably be leaving Columbus around 5:00 or 6:00 and it takes about an hour to get to Dayton. So if you will be home Saturday night around 6:00 or 7:00 we would like to stop by to see you. We understand if you are busy, but we'd love to see you guys after so many years! If you can't, we'll have to arrange some other weekend to get together. Email me back or you can call me at (801)376-4436. Thanks,
Bethany Reese
Glad to hear your knee hasn't bothered you. I'm hoping Christopher will arrive at that point soon - though his kneecap will always be worn away. I loved running when I was younger - now it's cycling and swimming. You're smart to make a committment to good health.
Good for you! Vallejo is super hilly which is one reason I didn't like to go bike riding there. I try to run but I always seem to get sick after I begin the running program and then it takes me months to get back. Yea I know -- excuses, excuses. :)
That is good news about your knee. Wow, running. Not something I attempt often, but good for you. I'm kind of having flashbacks to running the junior high mile in PE. It was before I knew I had asthma. I ran the whole thing, started seeing a lot of little stars and blackness and had a hard time breathing. Apparently I came pretty close to passing out. I guess this is one of the reasons I don't run often:)
