Single Mother

So I went from having Nate at home for a week, to having my mom here for a week and a half, to having Nate's mom here for a week. I have been super thankful for all their help and the fun we had together. However, I dropped Nate's mom off at the airport on Friday and Nate went to work Saturday morning about 4 in the morning and we haven't really seen him since. He did make it home last night at about 1 in the morning when we were all sleeping and then left at about 4:30 this morning. I am not sure if he will be home tonight at all and then he works all day tomorrow. So my expectations are not to see him until tomorrow night, that way I don't get my hopes smashed. It is just crazy how I went from having all of this help, to being all by myself. Needless to say I still braved church today with the three rug-rats by myself. Luckily I could sit by my friend so when Gwyn decided to scream bloody murder during the sacrament I was able to ditch the other two to get her to sleep outside of the chapel. Phew, one day down and now another year to go of him working weekends and another four of him working over 80 hours a week. One step at a time right.

Ok so sorry for the rant, but you know sometimes you just have to.Thought I would still add a picture. This is from last week when we blessed Gwyn.

I know how it is from when you kids were little. Dad would go to work at the fire station, work twenty-four hours, go straight to a painting job and not get home until ten o'clock at night. He would often work eight weeks or so without taking a day off. Then he would get sick and have to stay home a day. His working like an idiot was his choice, however, and he could get more sleep than Nate is often able to get. I found my friends to be my sanity, both from the neighborhood and church. I loved going to the Cabana Club in the summer because you guys would get some good exercise and could play with your friends, I could get out of the house and visit with adults and my house would stay clean! Remember what a fun-loving and playful guy Nate was before he had this schedule and that that person is still in there and will surface when he has the time again.

Glad you have some good friends around to keep you sane! We know how it goes with late nights around here! We are happy you guys chose Dayton for residency. Now, if we can just agree on some place to move when we are done! :)

Hang in there Nic!
I remember the old days growing up with Dad always working. I did think he was a work-aholic even when I was little, but at least playing with friends was always fun. I do have many fond memories of that time period. I guess that was why we had family vacations too, so we could remember who he was. Ha ha. I guess the girls can't go help with a surgery and get paid in Dairy Cream dipped cones, though. Bummer.
